WINEMAKING NOTES

In 2019, we experienced exceptionally long hang time for the fruit, allowing it to develop layers of flavors. The low yield from our over 120-year-old Zinfandel vines contributed to the intensity of the fruit, making this vintage particularly exciting.

Key winemaking steps:

• HAND-PICKING into small bins ensured delicate transportation of the fruit.
• Grapes were lightly crushed and fermented on the skins to dryness.
• The wine was then pressed and placed in our top 10% “food friendly” French and American oak barrels, with 15% new wood.
• Aging in this way preserved and uplifted the fruit and flavors to their fullest potential.

TASTING NOTES

This wine presents a stunning burgundy color in the glass.

Aromas:

• Spiced blackberry
• Plum
• Dried cherry
• Baking spices

On the palate:

• Initial flavors of luscious, juicy, freshly-picked ripe blackberries and freshly baked blackberry pie, lightly spiced.
• The second sip bursts with sweet ripe black cherries, black licorice, black plums, and black pepper.

Texture and pairing:

• Moderate tannins and juicy acidity create a rich, mouth-filling experience.
• Pairs beautifully with ALL foods, from gourmet burgers on the grill to nut-crusted seared rare ahi.
• A favorite pairing is tomato sauce pasta with Italian sausage sautéed in green & red banana peppers, onion, and fresh garlic.
