Interesting Facts:
Zweigelt is Austria's most widely planted red-wine grape and is a distinctly Austrian creation. It was developed in 1922 by crossing St. Laurent with Blaufränkisch, combining the bright cherry fruit and elegance associated with St. Laurent with the structure and spice of Blaufränkisch.
That also gives this wine a fun connection to the Baron.ess St. Laurent 2020: St. Laurent is actually one of Zweigelt's parent grapes.
Zweigelt is remarkably versatile. It can make everything from light, fresh reds that can be served slightly chilled to serious, oak-aged wines capable of developing with age.
Serve: 55–60°F. No lengthy decant is necessary. Serve slightly cooler than a Cabernet Sauvignon; 10–15 minutes of air is plenty.
